About
I started writing the way most kids start lying: to make an ordinary afternoon more interesting than it was. A notebook became a habit, the habit became a discipline, and somewhere along the way the discipline became the most honest part of my day.
It’s the closest thing I know to magic. You put marks on a page and someone who has never met you sees a city, hears an argument, feels something move. It has kept me sane. It has also shown me parts of myself I had no other way of reaching, and it keeps handing me the world in a form I can finally understand. I don’t write because I have things figured out. I write to find out.
Now I write every morning in Los Angeles, before the city is fully awake. Screenplays, novels, stories, and whichever poem refuses to wait. Most of it is about people trying to get free of something: a city, a family, a future someone else wrote for them.
